A person’s oral health is a crucial part of their overall well-being. Everybody deserves a healthy smile.

However, oral diseases and conditions are among the most common chronic illnesses in Europe, affecting people throughout their lives, with vulnerable populations such as patients experiencing the highest prevalence and worst outcomes. Despite the many improvements in oral health over the last 40 years, inequalities continue to be a burden for many patients with bleeding disorders who have not had specific dental education and access to care.

On World Oral Health Day, we emphasise the importance of good oral hygiene as a key step in preventing complex and invasive dental procedures for people with bleeding disorders. Serious bleeding complications in the mouth are all too common—so how can patients protect themselves?

A combination of healthy habits and a balanced diet will help prevent problems and combat the effects of food and drink on teeth and gums, keeping your smile bright and healthy for years to come. World Oral Health Day is the perfect opportunity to remember the basics of a good daily oral health routine.
